many, MANY people predicted a 1300 handle close to the year.

we are now entering the most bullish period in the year less than 15 points away from the 1300 handle. we are on a 200 point rally in october, a less than bullish month usually speaking.

can we get predictions for the year end close? maybe a poll cobra?

if we have truly teleported to the moon (much less gravity), and this rallies continues on said course supported by the bullish seasonality, window dressing, and mutual funds "chasing" performance. we have to consider the possibility that we'll see equally bullish returns in nov. and dec. (say 100 points a piece). martian prediction is we see mid-1400's at the end of the year! that brings us to 2007 levels!

Yes, but what if we pull back to 1150 or so (due to super committee failure on 11/22 and more US downgrade -threats or real deal). Then we'd be hoping for a santa rally to get us back up to 1300!

Selling on strength numbers is topped by SPY ETF at over 330. This is one of the major signs of a top. It doesn't mean we top today necessarily but the top may be close. I'm buying some shorts here via options.

It is ONE indication but does not always work out. SPY has been on the top 3 of SOS something like 4 out of past 6 sessions.
Coupled with overbought , NYAD/NYADV, MACD and a myriad other indicators it would seem that S&P, and the entire market, should start heading down.
However, the politicos will keep pumping money in one fashion or other to float the boat. The more the leaks, the more the fixes.

Sometimes you have to let go of the boat and start building another.
