The markets are now run by the banks. They (stock markets) are now small enough, compared to the cash they have which is essentially unlimited, to be traded like commodity markets. That allows them to move it where they like. They cleaned the clocks of the funds between August 10th and Oct 3rd and many stopped. It's easier for them to make money at SPX 1300 than it is at SPX 500. The problem is that without any regulations or regulators who can understand what they are doing and prevent the cabal from its assigned rounds, they are that "Outer Limits" TV. IMO, that should be factored in to all trading.

Interesting that BPSPX rose a bit yesterday - don't quite understand the divergence. My guess is that BPSPX will turn down and follow the CS system, which is more precise.

cool.

How do we read it ?

Any paper or tutorial available ?
CS does not provide the precise data/settings, but here an executive summary:

Each stock is tracked with a momentum cycle, on a monthly, weekly, daily and hourly base. I don't have the precise settings of the momentum indicators they use, I only know that they divide the cycle into four different phases, up and advancing, declining and terminating. So each stock is always in one of those phases. The number of stocks in each phase are added up according to the indices and that's what they show in their daily TA report.

Most interesting are the changes between the four phases, and for my kind of trading the daily cycle is the most useful.

This system is more precise than Bullish Percentages, because it has four phases and not only two (BPs work with bear/bull and that's it).

Does this help you?

With this type of divergence on IWM I would say last push unless we trade it to new high, for now bearish.

BullBear52x,
Nice observation. I was looking at the same. Very interesting to see the small caps do well today on an otherwise down day. Historically, does anyone know if the Russell lags? In November, it seemed to lag the S&P when the market took a leg down. I bought some IWM puts as a hedge. I am still long market with tight stops.

I was asked yesterday about AMLN. Here it is, briefly.

AMLN is expecting approval for the Bydureon resubmission, to be commercialized under the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA), for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
In the company of the Big Bird Eli Lilly (as an associate) and with a drug that doesn’t do much harm and can even be beneficial and handy to administer… it has good chances for a YES, or at least an “approvable letter“, which of course is not the same thing…
Moderately bullish, smart cookies are building call spreads for a few days, now….
Today C/P vol ~ 2.
BUY signal on 01/24/2012.
==========
Please, do your own DD.
