In order to trade much higher here, we need crude oil to decline, and the transports to catch up... I would be taking some long exposure off here, jmo.

It's just a comment on what he is seeing.

His oscillator went short at 136.08 this morning and it always has a .50 profit objective or stop-loss.

He has also commented to me that at times, this manipulation is absurd. I'm not saying this with no basis behind it. He also has many years of watching markets and I would assume he agrees with me that the mkts have very much changed with the advent of these HFT machines that (cough) "add liquidity".

sorry, just saw this. swalsh pretty much cleared it up...

the HFT Alert guy has a buy/sell accumulator that he couples with the SPY price all while watching his HFT alert program. as the HFT program fires off signalling that HFT's are stuffing quotes, he watches the affects on the SPY price, while seeing if it's getting confirmed by his buy/sell accumulator. he was just commenting this morning that the HFT alert spiked to over 700 (a very high number), the SPY price shot up, but the accumulator was trending down indicating selling into the higher SPY prices.

how accurate and or what time frame these things work, i don't know...

i'm not a sophisticated user of his program, but i do follow it through the day.

credit suisse? those tech guys over there who showed a "weakening" up trend and potential rollover was imminent? is that a sell signal then? ;)

My observations also. "Normally" one would see an instant reversal given the declining oscillator he uses to filter what's happening via volume. It did not happen today. So we are done for the day as the public shorted and were run out with their buy stops. It's just book keeping at this point.

This logic has kept me from getting torched on any premature shorts. Buy dips and keep reasonably tight stops since trends like this are typically bought if the selling picks up aggresively it may singal a trend change. This isn't to say that intraday scalping can't be used, but keep in mind the bulls typically get very extreme before a healthy pullback occurs. Asia and metals are my current favorite plays. Personally, I would like to see a trend change so I can make money the other way. Also, trends like this are slow to make money.

We are way overdue for a small correction. I am in the sell the rip mode because one of these times it will payoff big. There are no big payoffs on the long side right now. Also, the thinking that we are not even topping at all yet, so why worry is in my own opinion wrong. Look at the top in Mar of 2010. It went over the edge without a ripple. Our leader, on this blog, is keeping us very correct. Good luck and carry on. jimme
Senor Jimmie,

Wholeheartedly agree but note even in 2010 the push outside of the bolling bands in early April before the flash crash. I am not sure why, but the bulls have to get outside of it before the buying exhausts. Again long with a reasonably tight stop.

Might be. Bullish percentages seem to be a more reliable indicator than their system. Their system relies on increasing or declining momentum, but that's up to interpretation. What is declining or increasing momentum? where are the limits? Bullish percentages are clearer. But note that BPs were slightly bullish on Friday.

Not if "they" are selling you the stock. Always look to see who is selling you the stock. Also, if they have piles, don't buy any.
