That depends on his basis.TraderGirl wrote:I have a neighbor who owns a boat load of FB restricted stock, he is stuck in the shares. Any advice for him?? I feel bad for him because he has lost money.

I was thinking he could short on a rebound so that he is at least market neutral should we take another nasty fall in July. Any thoughts? Does anyone know if you can short FB at this point??

I don't know what his cost basis is...If it's really low, then I don't feel that bad, he knows the risk, but I know that a friend of mine who was working at FB was looking into selling the shares on Second Market, and I was looking into it for her and the shares were trading privately for $31, and that was about 1 1/2 years ago, so anyone who got in in the last year or two in the secondary market is not making any money at this point, in fact if the shares go below $31, then there could be a waterfall sell-off IMHO....Petsamo wrote:That depends on his basis.TraderGirl wrote:I have a neighbor who owns a boat load of FB restricted stock, he is stuck in the shares. I heard some of the BDs are making some borrow available to preferred clients. Might want to have your neighbor check with his/her broker. Borrow is should be readily available (likely at a nice borrow rate) on Thursday once all the shares from Friday settle under the standard T+3 rules.

Looks like we're back to the days of AAPL holding mkt up and never ending bear flags? [at least soybeans can sell off]snakehead wrote:132.75 was key ---- couldn't hold it.cguirguis wrote:Getting a nice little ascending triangle on the SPY 1 minute chart. Might break out here.
