I saw the yesterday discussion on P-bar.

In my trading software, the SPY p-bar is visible only when I activate my software to show the Data outside regular trading hours.
Otherwise the p-bar is not visible.

IMHo this P-bar is a fraud similar to Lie -Bar (LIBOR) and one day it will make headlines, but by that time we will be hitting 2000SPX and 20000 dow, so it may not matter

what's key with this idea is that beginners be aware of it's limitations.

i could make some argument that spikes in after or pre market trading create trading points to the human eye and to computers. this leaves you with what to do with something that is hard to time and sometimes doesn't happen at all. so i could make some argument that they "don't work".

obviously if you like these--first figure out if the trend is lined up with the p-bar odds are it should work better then. Second be very clear on why you are using them and what the advantages and disadvantages are. Third and even more subtle--if you are using your sight and mind to pick trades--realize that we find ways on the chart to support our internal states. those who are starting or who are overly emotional may find this a problem. those with experience and at least some emotional base may find this useful. But we choose ways to see data that allow us to see what is on our mind--in this context everything can be useful. Fourth--huge if you are starting out--keep a record of your trades and states around them re (in this case) p bars. you will find out in 1-4 months if these are worth using in your personal approach.

when you are starting out the trick is to be confused and be ok with it. from that open mind comes a style that is honest and functional. ignore nothing--trust nothing and slowly style shows up. people are always frustrated at the speed of this evolution and have the sense if they work harder they will move faster--i disagree. hard work is good but if misdirected is a problem not a solution. so again if starting out beware certainty--later it becomes much easier to live in a sort of mc esher world. but it is a delicate mental process to go from knowing what is going on to a sort of quantum or string theory day job.

Great trade with DAX - with a little help from an ellipse I bought the lower boundary of the ellipse (which is kind of risky, was ready to jump out immediately) and was lucky to ride up all the way to 7595. Small trap at 7560 - but besides that this ellipse trade was textbook...
