VIX by far too low

Post by mac769 »

I just wonder why VIX is REALLY low, also regarding a model, there seems to be zero fear in this market

so what is needed to change this?

Cobra,

Isn't consolidation around here good for bears? Or it more of a down then up NFP day?

Thanks!

1/2 Pilot Short on. Looking to reload other 1/2.
A little slow on the draw at the open otherwise would have been filled the reload.
Still seeing mixed technicals with bullish bias. This is still a contrarian, counter-trend trade.
I am a little encouraged as the opening day of the year high has yet to be beat.
The bulls should have run over that by now.
I think what the bears are lacking is a catalyst to trigger some liquidation.
There has not been any serious selling pressure for many days now.
That said, I do not like being against trend. Strength at the close today would not make me happy.
If Pilot Short does not start making money next week, he'll probably be fired.

Took a quick look at the Transports and Utilities this morning. We may get a selloff next week.

From October to end of December the correlation SPY to UUP was almost perfectly inverse (-1) and now it has more or less completely broken

Sooner or later eihter the Euro/USD or the SPY has to give way....

So there are 2 scenarios:

1) Euro rallye (looks like a low probability)
2) SPY failure (higer probability with neg divergence buiding)
