Dow Trader wrote:Covered, it is the signal target :D 8-)
you mentioned this weekend that you thought 25 points was the min target, 50 points the average in a bull market, and something closer to 100 (or rather 1000 dow points) in a bear market.

are you still working on those targets?

i'm still short, and think we could see something around 118.67/118.25.

PAGING ANYONE INTERESTED IN BANKS fundamental and TA research… but stale now as it is 24 hours old… so read it later …weekend focused on MS as possible “bellwether” due to its over-exposure to France/China (previously posted here w zh link)

NED DAVIS RESEARCH 10/9/11: “MS has been on a SELL signal since 04/25/2011”
Fundamentals: MS appears normally valued based on its P/E (TTM) 22.60, which is between the Financials sector’s top and bottom quintile values of 30.34 and 9.61, respectively. MS appears undervalued based on its Price/Book of 0.36, which is less than the Financials sector’s bottom quintile value of 0.65…Technicals: MS outperforms the SPX 66.67% of the time in October, with an average excess return of 2.72%.... MS/SPX Index currently lies 10.94% below its 50dma ……. MS/Financials sector currently lies 6.52% below its 50dma …
S&P STOCK REPORT 10/11/11: HOLD (3 out of 5 stars)… with outlook on peer group here: http://screencast.com/t/1YMoSibOd
CREDIT SUISSE: OUTPERFORM. “ Our Thesis. We’ve been wrong in recommending MS shares in terms of our fundamental outlook, the timeline of regulatory clarity and thoughts on floor valuation. With that said, we continue to rate MS shares Outperform—we believe measured progress in franchise restoration, healthier capital markets… and the absence of new negatives from here should drive … price outperformance... While we expect it will take some time for management to fully realize franchise earnings power …. more …. http://screencast.com/t/NN9vtKLTbP and 10/13 sector update after JPM eps: http://screencast.com/t/y3h5zxLJA6J
ARGUS ANALYST REPORT: BUY
SCHWAB SECOND OPINION WEEKLY (TA) 10/14/11: CHANGED TO NEUTRAL FROM AVOID.
Recommendation: Stock shows mildly improving TA conditions. If you are short this stock, hold position. Do not initiate new short sale.
Comment: MACD indicates bullish trend. Up/Down volume pattern indicates that the stock is under accumulation. Chart pattern indicates a weak downward trend. Relative Strength is Bearish. The 50dma is falling/Bearish. The 200dma is falling/Bearish.

[Anecdotally: critics point to MS lack of “deposit base” as big problem, compared to say, BAC which takes in gobs of cash deposits every day]
Normal disclaimer: crock-a-kool-aid …. all reports are copyright schwab…. BTW: GS who-is-doing-god’s-work got very similar ratings…
Disclaimer: I am not an investment advisor. This is just my opinion NOT investment advice.

Probably not, but after the last 9 days of pain a guy needs an outlet. Best of luck to all. I'm still short with my SDS 20 Calls from Friday. Let's test the Oct low!... If only it was that easy.

nope i think the market is ready to punish late bulls to the party and they're gonna take this tape down hard... i am on the sidelines at the moment.
I'm currently in not-as-volatile ETFs, hoping for a several days downleg. Then, when I suspect an upleg, I move into highly volatile ETFs & stocks like X & FCX. That's the strategy! Image

Not necessary, but just having fun. Let bears have some fun after you bulls had.. a week+ come on now be fair, share the toys :)

I'm still in the bear camp.. I still see my somehow 118.5 target possible.
